    On 13 April 2011, has held briefings Solar Boat Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur. This briefing was held at SMK Taman Melati, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur starting at 9.00 am to 1 pm. 5 schools involved in the BP myScience attended the 2011 Challenge;

1. SMK (Perempuan) Pudu
2. SMK Taman Melati
3. SMKA Kuala Lumpur
4. SM Sains Selangor
5. SMK Teknik Kuala Lumpur

At this briefing session was also held solar panels are delivered to each school boat.

IT'S EARTH DAY!!!!

 

WHAT IS EARTH DAY???

Earth Day is a day that is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's natural environment.

In conjunction with this, the school has launched 

'KEMPEN MENJAGA & MENCINTAI ALAM SEKITAR'.

The school is hosting two main event which is 

'PERTANDINGAN MELUKIS POSTER' 

and 

'PERTANDINGAN MEMBUAT SKRAP BOOK'.

Carbon Challenge and Trading Games

          On the 18th April 2011, the carbon challenge and trading games was held at Dewan Wawasan of SMSS. These activities were carried out from 8.30a.m-1.00p.m. The students that have taken part in these activities were the students from form 4.

          These activities were conducted entirely by BP. A representitive from BP, Mr. Zulkifli Othman, The External Affairs Manager was present for both activities.

Tapir Talk

Date : 24th April 2010
Venue : Universiti Malaya
Time : From 7 am until 12.30 pm.

This tapir talk was being attended by 4o Biology students on to encourage them to save the almost extinct animals, the tapir. They had being showed by slides about tapir and their lifes. From this talk, they know that they need to encourage other people too, to save these tapirs.

     Bersempena dengan Earh Hour pada 8 Februari 2010 yang lalu, Sekolah Menengah Sains Selangor  telah mengadakan sambutan bagi peringkat sekolah bagi membantah pemanasan global yang semakin meningkat ini. Sambutan ini turut dimeriahkan lagi dengan kehadiran pihak penaja Maggi dan Nestle. Semasa lampu ditutup, keadaan sekeliling hanya diterangi dengan cahaya bulan sahaja manakala para pelajar menikmati cucur goreng , maggi serta murtabak goreng. Selepas itu, Encik Wahab selaku pemilik syarikat Maggi dan Nestle memberikan ucapannya dan menyeru kepada semua warga SMSS untuk menyahut program-program menyelamatkan bumi seperti ini.

Pelancaran Program Zero Dustbin

      Sekolah Menengah Sains Selangor telah melancarkan Program Zero Dustbin sejak tahun lepas lagi. Program ini bertujuan untuk mengurangkan kadar pembuangan sampah yang dilakukan oleh warga SMSS sekaligus dapat memelihara alam sekitar. Melalui program ini, tidak akan ada tong sampah yang akan disediakan sama ada di asrama mahupun di sekolah. .Program ini telah berjaya memupuk kesedaran pelajar betapa lamanya masa yang diambil oleh bahan-bahan terbuang ini untuk mereput dan mereka dapat mengetahui jenis bahan yang boleh dikitar semula dan warna-warna pada tong sampah kitar semula.

Tempat : Taman Alam Kuala Selangor



 Seramai 135 orang pelajar Tingkatan 5 telah menjalankan aktiviti menanam anak pokok bakau.

Aktiviti ini mengajar para pelajar mengenai pentingnya pemeliharaan dan pemuliharaan hutan paya bakau. Selain itu, para pelajar juga didedahkan mengenai profil dan jenis tumbuhan serta jenis haiwan yang boleh didapati di hutan paya bakau ini. Melalui aktiviti ini, ianya telah meningkatkan kesedaran dalam diri pelajar untuk menyayangi dan menghargai alam sekitar.
